At address right shoulder is lower than left because right hand is lower on club than left. Left foot turned out slightly to allow hips to clear more Easyly in follow-through. Ball position with a wood is left of center of your feet.
At this halfway back position in the backswing ask yourself, "Has most of my weight shift taken place?" Answer should be yes. By the time the club gets to parallel to the ground, wrists should be hinging upward and bending of right elbow is apparent.
In your backswing your body's job is to rotate level (in your mind's eye). The only thing that raises is your arms and club not your body. At the top of backswing wrist action, arm raise, shoulder turn, hip turn are all completing in harmony with weight shift to right foot.
Approaching impact, weight is shifting to left side while arm/hands/club swing down. Imagine how if I had a tail behind me like an alligator it would be swinging back around me to my right.
Still in posture, my head even after impact is over right knee ( behind the ball ). Notice forearms and wrists rolling and extension of right arm. Weight moving through to left side from underneath. My right side is arcing like a banana.
Only here in the follow-through do I raise up to see the completion of the
shot that I visualized. Think of all your weight being on left foot, hips
facing the target. If you are using knees, thighs, and hips to help
motivate your downswing this 'feel at ease' follow-through position will
happen automatically. When you finish the swing check yourself. Hips
facing target? Look at right foot. If not completed then put yourself in
full follow-through position immediately from wherever you are. |
